Tel Aviv’s Notorious Chocolate Festival was on the weekend of Valentine’s Day, Feb, 14th. It was posted everywhere, and I thought it would be a fun activity to do with my kids. Well, to start, the journey took two hours! By the time we arrived, we were exhausted and hungry for chocolate!

Surprisingly, we were one of the first to arrive. The line wasn’t too bad. The entrance fee which included a sample of chocolate was 15 NIS for an adult. That was the only free sample we received. Children went in for free. I found out later during our chocolate walk that free samples of chocolate were 5 NIS each.

Yummy Ice cream! It reminded me of those mini dove bars that were dipped in chocolate.

Two rooms were full of chocolatiers selling their chocolate.I think the chocolate prices were much cheaper than their value at the stores. My children and I had small mini cream bars dipped in chocolate with a choice of sprinkles on top. That was 13 NIS each. For 21 NIS we received a cup of strawberries that were not sweet covered in a chocolate sauce that was tasteless. Lots of kids were there with their parents looking as bored as mine. It wasn’t really a kid friendly event. There was a clown and there was a cooking demonstration.

We stayed only an hour because my kids kept asking me when we were going to go home. The highlight of this chocolate experience was viewing the Chocolate Jewelry. It was very interesting, and my daughter insisted I use it for my blog. So here are some pictures which were all taken by her.

I wonder if anyone would realize it is chocolate.

I was also impressed especially with the chocolate necklaces. I was wondering how many hours it took to make that.

I don’t understand why your kids wanted to go home when they are faced with yummy chocolates. Chocolate sauce that was tasteless? Oh, that’s interesting.

I don’t know. I wanted to stay more. We had just gotten there. However, there was nothing really kid friendly and the chocolates were too sweet. I thought that there would be samples from each stall and we could try and sample it. They had free tastings of chocolate liquor. So my son wanted to try and he said oh this is disgusting. It was funny. I knew that would be his reaction. I also couldn’t believe the chocolate sauce was tasteless but it really was and the strawberries were sour.
